At Acton, learners run their own studio. Set goals. Manage time. Govern their community. They do it daily, and for real. Some of their choices turn out wrong. That is how they learn.
A failed choice at nine costs a badge. At twenty-nine, it might cost a career.
It's not easy. It's hard by design. That's why it's worth it.

8:30 to 8:45am
Morning Launch
The day begins with a Socratic discussion. Learners wrestle with a real dilemma or question, out loud, together. No one hands them the answer.
8:45 to 11:00am
Core Skills
Self-directed work in math, reading, and writing. Every learner moves at their own speed and masters a concept before moving to the next.
11:00 to 11:45am
Lunch & Free Play
Unstructured time to explore, build, and recharge. Our lunch area is outside. Snack time is in the Courtyard. Learners spend big chunks of their day at play.
11:45am to 2:00pm
Quest Time or Civilization
In the afternoon, learners tackle hands-on projects on real world problems that combine science, entrepreneurship, or the arts. Teams plan, build, and bring real ideas to life.
2:00 to 2:15pm
Studio Maintenance
Each day learners care for their own studio. They sweep, clean, reset, and make the space ready for tomorrow, because it is their Studio.
2:15 to 2:30 or 3:00pm
Closing Circle
Each day ends together and in conversation. Learners reflect on wins, struggles, and what they might do differently tomorrow.

Ages 5-7 · Spark Studio
(Pre-K)
"I am capable."
This is where independence begins. Your child discovers they can tackle challenges on their own. This confidence (and curiosity) becomes the foundation for everything that follows. A big part of the Spark experience is lots of play. That is their work as they learn to build new habits and learn to get along with others.
Ages 7-12 · Discovery Studio (Elementary)
"We are stronger together."
By moving from "me" to "we" your child discovers that collaboration is fun AND multiplies their impact. The main focus of Discovery is building a love and curiosity for learning. This becomes a gift that will benefit your child for their lifetime as they explore their passions things they are wildly curious about.
Ages 11-15 · Adventure Studio (Middle School)
"I can lead."
Young adults are eager to step into leadership roles, learning to organize, inspire, and equip themselves toward ambitious goals that matter with real life rewards. It is their opportunity to show they are capable of contributing in the real world. The main focus of Adventure is to build a habit of three hours of focused work each day.
Ages 14-18 · Launchpad Studio
(HS + NGA)
"My life can serve something bigger than me."
The transformation becomes complete with a young person who no longer asks "how do I get ahead," but "how can I help." Imagine your teen building a real business, leading a team, and making meaningful impact in a way that universities, future employers, or prospective customers highly value.
Which Path Would You Choose For Your Child As They Enter The Real World?
Path ONE looks like:
• Twelve years of being 'managed.'
• Graded, scheduled, tested. Told what to do.
• At the end of the day, these habits create a young person who only knows how to wait.
• They lose their ability to stand up, step out of their comfort zone, and think for themselves.
Path TWO looks like this:
• Learning to be, learning to do, and learning to learn the stuff that actually matters and gets rewarded in the real world.
• Curiosity. Grit. The courage to try, fail, and try it again but differently.
• None of it will show up on a test score, and all of it shows up in the adult they will become.
Path Two doesn't happen by accident. Somebody had to build for it. We did. Come join us.
An honest fit check
Acton is not for everyone. That's our promise, not an apology.
Acton is right for your family if:

✓ You want an independent and self-driven young adult more than a perfect transcript.
✓ You are able to watch your child struggle without stepping in to rescue them, because even though it is hard - you know the struggle is where the learning happens.
Acton is NOT going to be a fit if:
✗ You're looking for the same kind of traditional school model but with smaller classes.
✗ You measure learning ONLY by test scores.
✗ You want a school whose main job is pushing your child harder on academics. We are after the internal inspiration a child carries for life. Academics are the least interesting thing we do.
✗ You're not okay with letting them fail or struggle even while the stakes are small.

Real moments, real learners
What does it look like when nobody tells them what to do?
When one of our youngest learners started here, every mistake ended in tears. Her first big challenge: logging into a Chromebook by herself, from the password card on the wall. No adult did it for her. It took two weeks. Then one morning, she was in. Soon she was the one sitting beside younger learners, helping them through the same struggle.
Another learner arrived carrying labels given by someone else: shy; behind in math; will not speak up. In our daily discussions, nobody forced her to talk. Our guides noticed her, welcomed her, and waited. For six months she just listened. Then one day she offered a single thoughtful comment. Then another. Today she is one of the leaders of her studio.
After a Town Hall, our learner-elected Council asked to speak with a boy whose behavior was crossing lines and breaking promises. "You are not in trouble," the Council leader began. "We need to understand what is going on." They asked questions instead of making accusations. Our guide sat and observed. No adult ran that conversation. The learners owned it.
When you trust that young people are capable of doing amazing things, they become amazing.

Is Acton Academy Fort Lauderdale a religious school?
Acton Academy Fort Lauderdale is a non-sectarian learning environment. We value and respect each person's beliefs. We explore the importance various religions have played throughout history but we do not offer religious education.
Does Acton Academy Fort Lauderdale serve special needs children?
We are not a special needs school, and our guides are not trained to work specifically with children with learning disabilities.
How is Acton Academy Fort Lauderdale different?
Acton Academy Fort Lauderdale is fundamentally different from traditional schools. There are no bells and no lectures. Learners are in control of their own learning and empowered to take charge of their own educational journey. Specifically:
